“Quarry Beach” Original Artwork (Framed).
Part two in the “Bay Area Wonders” collection, inspired by my favorite places in the Bay Area.
This piece is heavily inspired by a view overlooking Quarry Beach on Angel Island, in the San Francisco Bay. Walking along this shore, it feels far away from the bustling urban areas that surround the island. While all places contain simultaneous histories (search “Angel Island Immigration Detention” to learn of the xenophobic history here), Angel Island exists today as a state park, and is almost entirely green space. I have always enjoyed spending time on the island and relaxing on this beach. The eucalyptus and sourgrass that dominate this painting are not native to California, but they are characteristic of this location in our current age.
Drawn with permanent ink and painted with watercolor on hot press watercolor paper.
This original artwork is framed with conservation materials in a 16″x20″ wood frame with glass glazing.
Artwork dimension is 9″x12″, mounted with a window mat in a 16″x20″ frame.
